The participants block the highway between Torbat-Heydarieh and Dolat-Abad by burning tires. <\/p>\n
The protests sparked following the mullahs' regime refusal to accept the township as a city with all its rights. <\/p>\n
They chanted anti-government slogans such as, "Lying authorities, we want our rights." <\/p>\n
The local authorities fearing the spread of the demonstrations dispatched scores of the State Security Forces – mullahs' suppressive police—to contain the crowd. <\/p>\n
Two months ago, the local authorities had promised the residents of Zaveh that soon their township will be considered as a city with all the rights that comes with it. However, it did not go any further than an empty promise which evoked people's anger. <\/p>\n
Since the early days of the mullahs' regime, they have never paid much attention to citizen demands and their needs. The same suppressive measures in the western province of Qazvin were imposed a decade ago when local population there demanded that their city turn into a province with all the rights. <\/p>\n
