{"id":6222,"date":"2009-04-10T09:07:16","date_gmt":"2009-04-10T08:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/statements\/iran-resistance\/6222-german-government-supports-a-humanitarian-solution-for-iranian-opposition-in-iraq"},"modified":"2023-01-13T06:04:49","modified_gmt":"2023-01-13T05:04:49","slug":"german-government-supports-a-humanitarian-solution-for-iranian-opposition-in-iraq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/german-government-supports-a-humanitarian-solution-for-iranian-opposition-in-iraq\/","title":{"rendered":"German government supports a humanitarian solution for Iranian opposition in Iraq"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-33262\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2009\/04\/ashraf-arash.gif\" alt=\"Ashraf City (Ashraf Camp), Iraq\" title=\"Ashraf City (Ashraf Camp), Iraq\" width=\"150\" height=\"124\" align=\"right\" \/>NCRI &ndash; The Federal Government of Germany supports a humanitarian solution for the Iranian opposition group the People&rsquo;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) in Iraq, German language Associated Press reported from Berlin today.<\/p>\n<p>A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman in Berlin however said on Thursday that Germany has not yet thought of accepting the members of the group in Germany, the report added.<\/p>\n<p>She said that there were no German nationals among some 3,500 political opponents in the Camp Ashraf located in north of Baghdad. <\/p>\n<p>Since February 20, when transfer of protection for the Camp from U.S. to Iraqi Forces was completed, pressure by the Iranian regime on the Iraqi government has mounted to close it down. Some inhuman and unlawful restrictions have been imposed on the residents of the Camp since. One of the facilities of the Camp with few hundred occupants has been under siege for about a month and last week medical doctors were not allowed to the Camp to treat patients among them a cancer patient. <\/p>\n<p>An international campaign has been launched to prevent mistreatment of Ashraf residents and possible forcible expulsion or displacement of the residents. Hundreds of parliamentarians and dozens of human rights and refugee rights organizations have expressed grave concern over the plight of Ashraf residents.
