NCRI – Anti-government protests continued Sunday evening in Tehran and other cities with chants of “death to the dictator”. Agents of the Revolutionary Guards, paramilitary Bassij, anti-riot force, State Security Force (SSF), and Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), and plain-clothes agents opened fire on the protestors and used pepper-spray and batons to brutally suppress the youths who were demanding the overthrow of the religious fascism ruling Iran. <\/p>\n
Suppressive forces late last night besieged and raided the dormitory of Tehran University. Many students were wounded and arrested in this raid. <\/p>\n
While the uprising continues, the Khamenei-Ahmadinejad faction and other factions of the regime declared their allegiance to the rule of velayat-e vaqih (or Supreme Leader) and called for an end to ‘unlawful protests’.<\/p>\n
Mir Hossein Moussavi, a former Prime Minister in the Khomeini regime and defeated presidential contender, in a statement on Sunday said: “We are loyal to the Islamic Republic and its constitution. We believe the rule of the Supreme Leader to be a pillar of this establishment, and we will pursue our political actions in the framework of the law”. He strongly urged people to “respect the principle of no conflict” when taking part in “civil and legal protests” and refrain from “blind actions” so that “through our actions the country, ruling establishment and revolution would benefit”.<\/p>\n
The state-run daily Jomhouri Islami which is affiliated to Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Moussavi said in an editorial on Monday: “The disturbances in recent days and nights in Tehran are definitely against the benefit of the country and interest of the Islamic Republic establishment, and cannot be accepted with any logic”. The editorial added that Ahmadinejad’s three rivals “are servants of the Islamic Republic establishment and have spent the majority of their lives defending the revolution and the Islamic Republic”, and are definitely opposed to “disturbances, clashes and disruptions”, and “no one can see themselves as a supporter of these candidates and commit such actions”. <\/p>\n
