Even as constant sandstorms are having much negative effect, workers, food and maintenance equipment for water and electricity systems are still being prevented from entering.&nbsp; Over the past week, from July 1-7, Iraqi army and police forces prevented 10 trucks carrying food, consisting of flour, sugar, vegetables and fruit, and fuel as well as vehicles carrying essential items for Ashraf&rsquo;s water and electricity systems from entering.<\/p>\n<p>The Iraqi government has for over a month prevented the transfer of a power transformer to Ashraf&rsquo;s water-pumping station situated in the village of Zorgania. This new transformer, which was bought by Ashraf residents, must replace the one which is worn out. Additionally, since July 1, repaired items are not being allowed to be transferred to the water pumping station.<\/p>\n<p>The intense heat of the Iraqi summer, perpetual sand-storms and the restrictions on entry of appliances and food are putting additional pressure on the residents of Ashraf. Water is now being rationed. It is anticipated that the water pump may stop working altogether.<\/p>\n<p>These pressures and unlawful actions are in clear breach of the assurances given by the Iraqi government to the US government and international organizations about treating the residents of Ashraf humanely. These inhumane pressures are taking place at the request of the Iranian regime to suppress its opposition in Iraq at a time when the Iranian people are taking part in a nationwide uprising against the mullahs&rsquo; illegitimate regime.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian Resistance calls on the US President, the UN Secretary General, the Security Council and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to intervene immediately to end the siege of Ashraf and compel the Iraqi government to comply with international law and the April 24 European Parliament resolution on the humanitarian situation of Camp Ashraf residents.
