NCRI – According to reports obtained by the Social Headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) inside Iran, on Sunday, August 2, more than 1,000 relatives of those arrested or disappeared during the people’s uprising gathered in front of the office of the mullahs’ criminal Judiciary Chief, Mahmoud Shahroudi.<\/p>\n
The gathering by families took place in protest to the lack of accountability of the clerical regime's officials regarding the status of their loved ones despite the passing of almost two months from their arrest. It was also a protest against the clerical regime's kangaroo court and ridiculous show of forced confessions obtained from prisoners.<\/p>\n
A huge number of suppressive forces, including agents from the State Security Forces (SSF) and plainclothes agents, along the path towards Shahroudi’s office attempted to threaten and disperse the families. The criminal Shahroudi himself avoided responding to inquiries from pain stricken families and refused to meet with them.<\/p>\n
At the same time, a group of families also staged a protest gathering in front of the notorious Evin prison to inquire about the status of their detained loved ones.<\/p>\n
Another group of relatives gathered in front of the mullahs’ so-called Revolutionary Court since 10:00 yesterday to find out more information about the status of their relatives. The number of protestors at this location, which started to grow from 14:00 local time, reached more than 100. They chanted “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great).<\/p>\n
Families of the detainees have staged gatherings in front of the regime’s prisons or courts since the arrest or disappearance of their loved ones in order to find out more information about their status. The regime’s agents effectively exert extra pressure on them with the passing of two months by forcing them to run around from one location to another. This has led to incredible psychological pressure on the parents of those detained. For example, the mother of one of the detainees, Aziz Moghbeli, is now checked into a hospital after a heart problem.<\/p>\n
The Iranian Resistance warns about the threats of torture and hanging facing the detainees and calls on all international organizations and bodies to implement urgent and binding measures meant to stop arbitrary arrests and hangings.<\/p>\n
