NCRI – According to reports by the Social Headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) inside Iran, on the 61st day of the nationwide uprising on Wednesday, thousands of people in Tehran staged protests in front of the enclosed Tehran Bazaar and the ‘15 Khordad Street’ and ‘15 Khordad Square.’ They were chanting “Death to dictator.”<\/p>\n
The regime’s suppressive forces dressed in black attacked the crowds, wounding a number of protestors and arresting some others.<\/p>\n
The previously announced protests took place despite the fact that in preparation for confronting the people’s protests, the regime’s suppressive forces had surrounded the Greater Bazaar of Tehran, and between Sabzeh Meydan square to 15 Khordad Square as well as Galoubandak to Nasser Khosrow and nearby locations since 08:00 am local time. They had also brought in fire trucks to disperse the crowds.<\/p>\n
More than 80percent of the shops in Tehran’s Bazaar, including the jewelers, clock sellers and office supply retailers were closed. The regime’s suppressive forces stormed in and occupied the coppersmith shops and forced the owners to keep their stores open.<\/p>\n
At the clock sellers’ section in Bazaar, suppressive agents clashed with people and violently beat a mother and her son. But, shop owners and people on the scene rushed to their help, clashed with the regime’s agents and in the end rescued the two.<\/p>\n
In addition to the State Security Forces (SSF) and plainclothes agents who were stationed in all locations in groups of 2 to 4 with cell phones in hand, dozens of bikers with one or two passengers roamed through the Bazaar to intimidate people. The SSF had control over all sidewalks and cars were prevented from going through the area.<\/p>\n
Forces from the police stations of Palestine 107, Navab 108, Jami 119, Abouzar 161, Abusaeed 112, Abbasabad 104, and Yousefabad 125 were stationed at junctions of the Bazaar area, especially the Dadsetani and Pamenar junction leading to Baharestan Square.<\/p>\n
