NCRI – At a session organized by the Human Rights group of the Finnish Parliament, and in the presence of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect, at the parliament building, a declaration of support by the majority of the country’s lawmakers for the Iranian people’s uprising and the rights of Camp Ashraf residents was unveiled. A book containing the signatures of the lawmakers was presented to Mrs. Rajavi by Mr. Kimmo Sasi, the Chairman of the Finnish Parliament's Constitutional Law Committee. <\/p>\n
The declaration of majority support at the Finnish Parliament in support of the Iranian people’s uprising and the rights of Camp Ashraf residents was signed by more than 100 members of the Finnish Parliament, including 6 committee chairs, 11 deputy chairs, and leaders and deputies of various factions. <\/p>\n
More than 100 parliamentarians, advisors, party leaders and political figures in Finland attended the session. Representatives from all of the country’s political parties, including the National Coalition Party, the Center Party, the Socialist Democratic Party, the Leftist Coalition, the Green Party, the Swedish Party, and the Christian Democratic Party condemned human rights violations on behalf of their respective parties and voiced support for the Iranian people’s resistance and the residents of Ashraf City. <\/p>\n

Camp Ashraf, Iraq, is home to 3,400 members of the main opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK). <\/p>\n
At the session, the Chairman of the Constitution Law Committee of the Finnish Parliament, Mr. Kimmo Sasi, announced the creation of the Finnish Parliamentary Committee for a Free Iran. The committee, which is comprised of Finnish lawmakers from various political parties, declared its objectives as follows: <\/p>\n
Exposing and condemning human rights violations in Iran
Fighting for freedom of all political prisoners and an end to executions in Iran
Pursing effective oil sanctions against the regime by the EU and the UN Security Council
Supporting the Third Option as presented by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi for democratic change in Iran
Defending the rights of Ashraf residents. <\/p>\n
The Iranian Resistance’s President-elect also took part at a hearing session of the Human Rights group at the Finnish Parliament, which was organized by the Chairman of the group, Mr. Ilkka Kantola. <\/p>\n
In her remarks, Mrs. Rajavi talked about the systematic and brutal human rights violations in Iran. <\/p>\n
Mr. Kantola, who also chaired the hearing, said: The situation of human rights in Iran and the circumstances surrounding the residents of Ashraf are both profoundly distressing for us. <\/p>\n
Mr. Kantola added that when it comes to a dictatorship pursuing nuclear weapons, I agree with Mrs. Rajavi that the best response is democracy, especially because the Iranian regime relies on religion and carries a multitude of threats for the international community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
