They threatened and handcuffed university security guards and conducted a four-hour-long search in the location, confiscating documents and computers.<\/p>\n<p>The assailants reportedly possessed a prosecutor order for their actions, but according the email, judiciary officials were not aware of such an order and had not officially notified school officials.<\/p>\n<p>The email also described the action as the continuation of &ldquo;certain ongoing activities in recent days,&rdquo; adding, &ldquo;Following the illegal declaration of changes in the university&rsquo;s charter and introduction of new board members, a number of plainclothes agents illegally gathered in front of various offices at the Free University.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, the so-called High Council of Cultural Revolution introduced new board members at the university on the basis of a new charter, and issued a month-long ultimatum to elect a new president.<\/p>\n<p>The existing board members had previously declared that the proposed new charter engendered &ldquo;legal and Sharia foibles.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The High Council of Cultural Revolution is chaired by the clerical regime&rsquo;s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Its decision to appoint new board members at the Free University in Tehran signals the opening of a new chapter in the longstanding confrontation between Ahmadinejad and the Free University.<\/p>\n<p>The university is considered to be private and currently has 357 campuses across Iran with a total of 1.4 million students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &ndash;
