NCRI – The former Prime Minister of Algeria, Sid Ahmad Ghozali, who also chairs the Arab-Islamic Committee in Defense of Ashraf, sent a message to the residents of Camp Ashraf, praising their perseverance in the face of last year’s attacks by the Iranian regime’s agents.<\/p>\n
Camp Ashraf, Iraq, is home to over 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition, People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK). On July 28 and 29, 2009, Iraqi forces attacked the camp at the behest of the Iranian regime, murdering 11 defenseless residents and wounding more than 400 others.<\/p>\n
In his message to the residents a year after the raid, Mr. Ghozali said international public opinion is now praising the residents of Ashraf. Today, thousands of parliamentarians and jurists the world over have Ashraf in their hearts and minds, and no one should entertain the notion that the situation in Ashraf is what it used to be in the past.<\/p>\n
Below are excerpts of Mr. Ghozali’s message:<\/p>\n
“We not only express solidarity with the residents of Ashraf for the challenges that lie ahead, but would especially convey our heartfelt emotions and sentiments by telling them that you are not alone anymore. Today, tens of thousands of parliamentarians and jurists all over the world have Ashraf in their hearts and minds. That is why no one should entertain the notion that the situation in Ashraf is like what it was ten years ago or even several years ago.<\/p>\n
“The international public opinion is now praising Ashraf and expressing solidarity with it. Although people like myself are worried about the future of Ashraf, at the same time we are confident that the Iranian dictatorship is at the end of the road and those who seek to destroy Ashraf will not succeed in doing so. Those who intend to expel these people will not succeed. Why? Because your ideal is a legitimate and just ideal; and because, in addition to the existing international solidarity, your bravery, creativity and abilities will guarantee your success.<\/p>\n
“And I predict that the residents of Ashraf will be able to go back to a homeland free of any kind of dictatorship very soon. These are both feelings of sympathy and also an assurance that your just and legitimate ideal will ultimately triumph.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
