NCRI \u2013 A senior official of the al-Iraqiya coalition, which came out as the winner of \u200eIraq\u2019s parliamentary elections, has blamed the Iranian regime for sending hand guns, \u200esilencers, bombs and explosives to Iraq, adding that provocative comments by regime \u200eofficials serve as example of its meddling in Iraqi affairs.\u200e<\/p>\n
According to al-Rashid TV, Dr. Zafer al-Ani said, \u201cThe meddling by the Tehran regime \u200eand the velayat-e faqih (absolute clerical rule) does not only cover political affairs but also \u200eattempts to form the next government.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cBy refusing to accept the results of the election and circumventing them, \u200e\u200e[incumbent Prime Minister Nouri] al-Maliki is in effect blocking the peaceful transition of \u200epower. Someone who is not prepared to peacefully hand over power cannot claim to be \u200ecommitted to democracy.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e\u201cIf this is the case, why then do we have elections in the first place?\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
Dr. al-Ani added, \u201cThat is why when we see the refusal to transfer power peacefully, we \u200eresort to making the matter into an international case.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e\u201cIf Tehran continues its meddling in Iraqi affairs, the doors to making an international \u200ecase will be opened.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
In response to a question about his evidence regarding Tehran\u2019s meddling in Iraq, D. al-\u200eAni said, \u201cRemarks by Iranian regime officials and its ambassador, interference by [the \u200emullahs\u2019 Supreme Leader Ali] Khamenei and the regime\u2019s Intelligence Ministry, sending \u200ehand guns equipped with silencers, sticking bombs, explosive packages, and the talks that \u200eare being held in Qom and Tehran are all indications of this meddling.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
He specifically referred to Qassem Suleimani, the commander of the Qods Force, the \u200eextraterritorial arm of the mullahs\u2019 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and said, \u200e\u200e\u201cCurrently the name of Qassem Suleimani is heard more in Iraq than the head of \u200eAmerican intelligence or even Iraqi officials themselves. Suleimani is someone who wants \u200eto redefine Iraqi politics.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
Al-Ani said he believed that Arab governments in the region have a great responsibility \u200ewhen it comes to the Iranian regime\u2019s designs, which intend to turn Iraqi into Tehran\u2019s \u200ebackyard. A government in Iraq that is tied to the Iranian regime, he added, would be the \u200eoutcome of pressures that will increase day by day.\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e\u201cThe most striking example of the Iranian regime\u2019s meddling in Iraq is its red line against \u200eal-Iraqiya and the next prime minister.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e\u201cBut, we need a new government,\u201d Dr. al-Ani added, \u201cwhich can work with others \u200ewithout adopting the totalitarian approach that has characterized the past four years.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
Dr. al-Ani added, \u201cI want to declare to the honorable people of Iraq that al-Iraqiya is the \u200emain party and will head the next government, but without al-Maliki as the prime \u200eminister.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
