NCRI – Upon orders of Nouri al- Maliki, on the eve of his trip to Tehran, as a down-payment to the \u200eclerical regime ruling Iran, Iraqi forces attacked Ashraf residents by firing bullets, and \u200eusing sticks and truncheons. As a result, 10 Ashraf residents were wounded. \u200e<\/p>\n
Maliki, who faces widespread domestic, regional and international opposition to maintain \u200eunlawfully his post as the Prime Minister, is trying to kowtow to the demands of the \u200eclerical regime more than ever. \u200e<\/p>\n
This attack took place when in an open aggressive move the Iraqi forces set up a new \u200ewatch tower in the northern flank of Ashraf. A number of residents who were in the vicinity \u200eof the site of the new post, peacefully protested to this illegal act and sought explanation. \u200e<\/p>\n
In response, the Iraqi forces who were under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Latif \u200eAbdul-Amir Hashim al-Anabi, Captain Ahmad Hassan Khodheir, and Lieutenant Heidar \u200eAzab Mashi attacked the residents by firing bullets and using sticks that they had prepared \u200ein advance for this purpose. Firing bullets was done by the unit under the command of \u200eHeidar Azab. He is an agent of the Iranian regime who have attacked and assaulted Ashraf \u200eresidents on number of occasions in the past. \u200e<\/p>\n
These forces also attacked the residents\u2019 vehicles and broke their windows and inflicted \u200eheavy damages to them. \u200e<\/p>\n
Latif Abdul-Amir has blatantly stated that he received all his orders for suppressive \u200emeasures from the committee within the Iraqi Prime Minister\u2019s office tasked with \u200esuppression of Ashraf residents and an agent by the name of Sadeq from the same office. \u200e<\/p>\n
On October 13, in response to protests by officials of the United Nations and the American \u200eforces, \u201cA responsible source within the [Iraqi] security forces involved in protection of \u200eCamp Ashraf\u2026 declared that his forces have no plan to attack the camp.\u201d (Alsowt al-Iraq \u200eradio)\u200e<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s criminal act and firing at the residents of Ashraf, beating and injuring 10 of them, \u200eclearly show that the Iraqi forces are not competent enough to offer protection to Ashraf \u200eand they themselves are considered as the killers of its residents. This makes the need to \u200edeploy the American forces and the permanent monitoring team of UNAMI inside Ashraf \u200emore compelling than ever. \u200e<\/p>\n
The Iranian Resistance warns against any delay in implementation of these essential \u200emeasures and underlines the responsibility of the US forces to provide protection to Ashraf \u200eresidents within the framework of international treaties and the US forces\u2019 obligations \u200eunder their agreement with every resident of Ashraf. \u200e<\/p>\n
