In a magnificent funeral, Marzieh, Iranian nation\u2019s treasure trove of art, is laid to rest at \u200eAuvers-sur-Oise ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Marzieh<\/p>\n

NCRI – The legendary icon of Iranian music, Marzieh, was laid to rest on Monday, October 18, at the \u200eAuvers-sur-Oise cemetery, a northern suburb of Paris (near where she lived). She died of cancer at \u200ethe age of 86 on Wednesday, October 13.\u200e<\/p>\n

Marzieh epitomized the rebellion of Iranian artists against the mullahs\u2019 sinister religious fascism. <\/p>\n

Subsequently, a ceremony was held to pay homage to her memory at the headquarters of the \u200eNational Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in Auvers-sur-Oise.<\/p>\n

\"Marzieh\u200e<\/p>\n

A member of the NCRI, Marzieh was the advisor on artistic affairs to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the \u200eIranian Resistance\u2019s President-elect. She was also a staunch supporter of the residents of Camp \u200eAshraf, Iraq, home to 3,400 members of the opposition People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran \u200e\u200e(PMOI\/MEK). \u200e<\/p>\n

Multitudes of Iranians of every generation and from many countries, particularly in Europe, \u200eattended the ceremony. The large audience spilling over to the street adjacent to the NCRI \u200eheadquarters paid homage to Marzieh\u2019s unprecedented and brilliant 60-year artistic career, which \u200etouched the hearts and minds of tens of millions of Iranians.\u200e<\/p>\n

\"Marzeih <\/p>\n

\u200eAs the keynote speaker Mrs. Rajavi paid a moving and emotional tribute to the legendary singer. \u200eShe described Marzieh as the most outstanding and steadfast \u201cfemale artist\u201d in the contemporary \u200etimes, adding: She was a proud and eternal treasure trove of Iranian art, the epitome of Iranian \u200ewomen\u2019s teeming rebellion against stoning and Khomeini\u2019s misogyny, and the most beautiful voice \u200eof resistance for freedom. She embodied the defiance of Iranian art and women against the \u200emisogynist regime, with which she never compromised.\u200e<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi said: Marzieh rebelled against the usurpers of Iran and the murderers of Iranian music \u200eand arts, endeavoring to rescue our art, culture and history from Khomeini\u2019s pillage. Marzieh \u200eunsparingly threw her fame and popularity behind the resistance of Iranian people for freedom, the \u200eIranian Resistance\u2019s President-elect added. \u200e<\/p>\n

\"marzieh<\/p>\n

Marzieh lived in Ashraf for many years and championed the cause of its residents until her very \u200elast day. The clerical regime imposed enormous pressure on her family when she joined the \u200eresistance but she stood firm and refused to surrender.\u200e<\/p>\n

A large number of distinguished artists, political figures and human rights activists participated in \u200ethe ceremony and a number of them, including Russ Pople, the principal conductor of the London \u200eFestival Orchestra, paid tribute to her. The London Festival Orchestra accompanied Marzieh in \u200emany of her concerts, including the 1995 majestic performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London.\u200e<\/p>\n
