NCRI – Following months of stalling and propaganda, as the Iranian Resistance had anticipated in advance, the P5+1 nations\u2019 two-day negotiations with the religious dictatorship ruling Iran failed in reaching any result. Agreement on further negotiations at the end of January 2011 in Istanbul, being the only outcome of the two-day Geneva talks, is nothing but further waste of time whose outcome is already known.<\/p>\n

At the end of the two-day negotiations, Jalili, Secretary of the Mullahs\u2019 Supreme National Security Council said with the utmost obscenity and deceit that \u201cif the pressures continue, the Iranian regime will not negotiate any further, and also will not negotiate on the subject of uranium enrichment in the upcoming Istanbul negotiations.\u201d A European Union official said, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t describe the talks we\u2019ve had today as fruitful\u2026 Given the history, you can\u2019t be optimistic\u2026\u201d A senior US administration official underlined how difficult future talks would be by noting that the P5+1 insisted that Iran must suspend its enrichment of uranium \u2013 something categorically rejected by Jalili (Reuters, 7 December 2010).<\/p>\n
Baroness Ashton\u2019s refusal to participate in a joint press conference with Jalili, remarks made by US and European officials and the absurd and ridiculous comments expressed by Jalili proved once again that negotiations and a soft approach towards the regime will only provide the necessary time the mullahs\u2019 need to obtain nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n
Before the Geneva talks, Iranian Resistance\u2019s President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi said negotiating with the mullahs\u2019 regime is a vain attempt doomed to failure. She said such negotiations would only lead to unilateral concessions to the regime and provides the mullahs with further time to acquire nuclear bomb, which the faltering regime needs it more than any other time to continue with its rule. She insisted that democratic change in Iran by the Iranian people and their Resistance is the ultimate solution to relieve the region and the world from the nightmare of fundamentalists equipped with nuclear bomb; the only appropriate way to deal with this regime is to adopt a firm policy against it including imposition of comprehensive sanctions, particularly oil sanctions.<\/p>\n
