NCRI – Several members of the Democratic Iran parliamentary committee in France met and spoke with the Iranian Resistance\u2019s President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, at the latter\u2019s residence in Auvers-sur-Oise on\u00a0 December 09.<\/p>\n
The MPs included Messrs Alain Vivien, former French minister, Senator Jean Pierre Michel, member of the French Senate, and Francoise Colcombe, a judge and former member of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
They condemned the siege and suppressive measures against the residents of Camp Ashraf in Iraq and said the logistical and medical restrictions in particular are unacceptable and must end.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Rajavi thanked the members describing them as representatives of the \u201cawaken conscience of the French nation in defense of the democratic values of the Republic.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said their efforts, along with those of the majority of MPs in the National Assembly and Senate, as well as more than 5,000 mayors, sends a message by the French society to the government to support the fundamental right of Ashraf residents.<\/p>\n
The French Democratic Iran committee is comprised of senators, MPs, jurists, political figures and human rights advocates. The committee released a statement saying that it stands with the Iranian people in their pursuit of overthrowing the religious dictatorship and for the establishment of democracy in Iran.<\/p>\n
It called on the French president to convince the US to reassume the protection of Ashraf on the basis of Article 45 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.<\/p>\n
It also demanded the immediate lifting of the two-year siege on Camp Ashraf, particularly restrictions on medical services and an 11-month-long psychological torture.<\/p>\n
A UNAMI monitoring team should be permanently stationed at Camp Ashraf with US protection while Iraqi forces, which have committed murder against the residents, should leave the camp and hand over control of basic services and facilities to the residents.<\/p>\n
The committee added that the Iraqi government must respect the rights of Ashraf residents on the basis of the Geneva conventions.<\/p>\n
It also called on the US to remove the main opposition People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) from the State Department\u2019s terror list.<\/p>\n
Iraqi and Egyptian groups condemn pressures on Camp Ashraf
NCRI – Several legal, social and human rights group in Iraq and Egypt have condemned the Iranian regime\u2019s plots against the residents of Camp Ashraf.<\/p>\n
The Association of Independent Jurists in Iraq, comprised of 12,000 Iraqi lawyers, social figures and lawyers in the province of Salahuddin, the Iraqi Human Rights Club, and the Society of Egyptian Lawyers said in separate statements that the crimes committed by the Iranian regime and Nouri al-Maliki against Ashraf are doomed to fail.<\/p>\n
The Association of Independent Jurists said in a statement that, \u201cWe strongly condemn the actions of agents like Nafe al-Isa who shamefully sell their dignity to the Iranian regime.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis individual [al-Isa] has gone to Iran and has received money, selling his religion and humanity by placing a bouquet of flowers on Khomeini\u2019s grave. Agents like him have no relation whatsoever to the dignified people of Iraq and Salahuddin province and engender not an ounce of genuine Iraqi pride
The association expressed hope that these agents will finally be prosecuted in international courts for violating the rights of civilians in Camp Ashraf.<\/p>\n
