New information on two notorious prisons in Tehran and Karaj

NCRI – Reports of secret prisons in Iran, which are run by the regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the notorious Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), have flooded over social media networks.

The prisons are reportedly used to secretly eliminate opponents of the clerical regime.

Prison No. 59

Prison No. 59, is specially equipped for the torture of political prisoners; containing torture beds and equipment in the basement.

The cells are designed to intimidate and terrify; the high ceiling and small windows only to the cell block offer little, if any, light. This eliminates the ability to measure the passing of time and aims to make prisoners feel defeated.

No voice can escape the prison walls, least of all from the basement, which maintains the secrecy of the regime’s crimes.

The prison, located in Eshratabad (Vali-Asr) Camp, east of Tehran, is the oldest IRGC prison, local reports say, and is used exclusively by the IRGC. The notorious jail is similar to IRGC Prison 66, located in the basement of Qasr-e Firouzeh (Kolahdouz) Camp, another prison notorious for its treatment of prisoners.

Zoo: An Underground Prison

The Zoo is both a torture facility and a slaughterhouse for political prisoners.

Those abducted by the IRGC are interrogated and detained here; subject to inhumane tests and finally murdered. Their bodies are disposed of by the regime in specially-built furnaces to remove all evidence of the regime’s murders, reports say.

According to the reports, it is unknown how many political dissidents have been murdered here but one thing is certain; no one gets out alive.

Situated near Karaj in Alborz Province, north-west of Tehran, the underground facility known as the Zoo is so vast that it can be entered from three different regions. It has three sections; cells, the microbiology lab and the chemistry lab.

Two townships are being built in the area of Karaj, which is above the prison so the people of the township are banned from any excavation including that necessary to build wells.
