On May 23, a group of Iranian exiles in Norway held a protest gathering calling for lifting of a siege on Iranian dissidents in a camp in Iraq.

Supporters of the Iranian Resistance held this gathering in front of Norwegian parliament building. They condemned the siege placed on the residents of Camp Liberty near Baghdad Airport which is home to over 2000 Iranian dissidents. Members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), the main and most organized opposition group live in this camp.

Iraqi elements stationed in this camp have told the residents that the latest restriction imposed on residents just allows food to get to the camp. This is while the potable water and the generators that provide electricity to the camp need spare parts and maintenance items.

The Iranian exiles in Norway condemned the ramping up of executions in Iran and called for the Iranian regime’s human rights record to be condemned.

Protestors declared their support for the 10-point plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, for a democratic Iran.

In addition, the Iranians in Norway called for the release of human rights activist Narges Mohammadi.
The protest was held outside the Norwegian parliament.
