Maryam Rajavi welcomes referral of Iranian regime’s nuclear file to Security CouncilUrges immediate adoption of comprehensive sanctions against the clerical regime

NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, congratulated the Iranian people on the referral of the Iranian regime’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council and called for an immediate adoption of comprehensive oil, arms, technological, and diplomatic sanctions against the regime. Mrs. Rajavi stressed that the only way to deal with this regime’s concealment, deceit, and obfuscation is a firm and swift policy to deny the clerical regime of the time that it seeks.

Mrs. Rajavi said: “Referral of the clerical regime’s nuclear file to the Security Council and the adoption of comprehensive sanctions against it has been a demand of the Iranian Resistance, supported by the Iranian people, for years, and is a necessary step to prevent the terrorist fundamentalists ruling Iran from arming themselves with the most dangerous weapon on earth. The ultimate solution, however, to rid the world of the growing threats the Iranian regime poses to regional and global peace, security and democracy, is democratic change in Iran. This is a step that is within reach and one that the Iranian people and Resistance have for many years strived for. Appeasement of the murderous mullahs, and in particular the terrorist designation of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran in previous years, has been the most significant obstacle to change in Iran.”

Mrs. Rajavi noted that the clerical regime’s crimes and illegal activities are not limited to its nuclear projects, and said: “The crimes of the ruling religious and terrorist dictatorship in Iran, such as the extensive and gross violations of human rights, over 120,000 political executions, and more than 450 terrorist acts abroad, are clear evidence of its crimes against humanity for which the leaders of this regime must be tried in an international tribunal.”
