Iran: Threats of force against the youth and population

NCRI – As the election masquerade nears and with a deadly rift at the pinnacle of the Iranian regime, commanders of its suppressive forces have, in fear of social uprisings, resorted to threatening the people and youths to intensify the atmosphere of terror.

Mohseni Ejaie, Iranian regime’s prosecutor general, reported of ‘mischief by the PMOI and enemies of the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at disrupting the security atmosphere in the country on the eve of the elections and the arrest of their elements by the intelligence ministry’. He said that, ‘during this period, the intelligence ministry has apprehended, detained, and is looking at charging the perpetrators’. (State-run website Jam-e Jam– May 28, 2013)

Ahmadi Moghaddam, the Commander of State Security Forces (SSF), said: “Control of security forces on cyberspace and information distribution is much more (forceful) than in 2009.” He stressed that forces under his command ‘are with all their might prepared to rein in any activities during the presidential elections, including supporters of an approved candidate taking to the streets or riots by supporters of a disqualified one’.

Bragging that any protests would be put down in the severest fashion, he added: “Following the 2009 sedition, preparations by security forces is according to the policy of predicting the worst scenario for the least probable case.”(Mehr news agency –May 24, 2013)

Prior to the elimination of Rafsanjani, Moghaddam had also said: “Our enemies today, with their negative propaganda and all sorts of adverse media, are poised to sow dissent among the public and destroy the Velayat-e faqih. Reactionaries and lawbreakers are marshaling against Velayat-e faqih rule.” (Mehr news agency affiliated to the Ministry of Intelligence and Security –May 22, 2013)
