
The massacre led to the brutal death of 52 members of the PMOI (MEK), with more injured. Seven people – six women and one man – were also taken hostage and initially moved to Baghdad where they went on hunger strike.
After 11 days, the Iraqi government announced that is holding in custody the seven Camp Ashraf residents whom had kidnapped in the attack including 6 women.
The PMOI supporters campaign inside the country coincides with worldwide condemnation of attack on the camp by Iraqi forces of Nouri al-Maliki.
The huge banner put on display on Park Way highway in Tehran carried large image of Mrs Zohreh Ghaemi, a Deputy Secretarty General of the PMOI/MEK who was among the 52 killed in the massacre.
The banner partly reads: “Hail to 52 heroes, the symbols of perseverance and resistance for the Iranian women and youth for,” “Hail to Rajavi, Down with khamenei.”
