NCRI – The Iranian regime’s Council of Guardians approved the bill which allows men to marry adopted daughters.
The 12 member unelected Guardian Council, made up of six clerics and six jurists, examines all bills in reference to the mullahs’ constitution.
The bill had already been approved by the Parliament in but had been rejected by the Council because it did not allow men to marry adopted daughters.
Under the mullahs rule in Iran, the law already allowed girls to marry at age 13, and boys at age 15. Furthermore, girls were allowed to marry at younger ages with approval from a court.
A state-run website had reported that at least 75 children under age of 10 had been married in Tehran in 2010. And as many as 42,000 with ages under 14 had been married across Iran.
