
At a meeting held in Abu-Dhabi on Wednesday, the Persian Gulf countries drafted the emergency plan to respond to a possible closure of Strait of Hormoz and disruption in the flow of oil.
The UAE official news agency reported: "The draft presented by the Gulf Cooperation Council Transport Ministers was later adopted."
Reuters reported the plan was presented following the statement by the mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei threatening to disrupt the flow of oil in the Gulf.
The Secretary General of Qatar’s Supreme Council for Environment and Natural Resources said: "We have decided to implement an emergency plan to counter the threat of nuclear proliferation in the Persian Gulf."
Kahlid Al-Qanim Al-Ali said: "this plan is aimed at confronting any radio active leaks similar to what happened during the Chernobyl catastrophe."
In its latest meeting in Riyadh, the Gulf Cooperation Council expressed concern about a possible scenario of a nuclear power plant disaster in Booshehr.
