Nationwide Uprising in Iran – Statement 43
NCRI – The Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), published an entirely fabricated and ridiculous report citing “a security official,” and claiming, “In view of reports about the presence of Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani’s relatives in the protests of recent weeks, it was feared that the elements of the Monafeqin [mullahs’ derogatory pseudonym for the PMOI] would hurt them in order to accuse the system [regime] and cause rifts and volatility. But, thanks to the vigilance of security forces, this plot was neutralized.”
The social unit of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside Iran said the lies are intended to prepare the groundwork for extensive suppression, killings and bloody internal purges. The PMOI’s social unit added that the fabrications are an outcome of the regime’s fear of the nationwide uprising in Iran as well as the extensive sympathy of Iranian youth towards the PMOI.
This is not the first time that the religious fascism ruling Iran has spread fabricated stories against the PMOI, especially through the IRGC outlet (Fars), to prepare the stage for killing and repression of protestors. Some of these lies had been exposed previously in statements dated June 20 and June 21, 2009 by the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
