Iran: Youths demonstrating in Tehran’s Enghelab and Vali Asr squares

Tehran- August 5, 2009Nationwide uprising – Statement 143

NCRI – On the 55th day of nationwide uprising today at around 19:30 local time, youths in Tehran held a protest gathering near Enghelab Square according to Social Headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The suppressive forces attacked the youth and beat them up.

At about 20:30 this evening, people and the youths in groups of 250 to 300 started chanting “Allahu Akbar” and “Death to the dictator” in Vali Asr square. They left the area as soon as the suppressive forces arrived and regrouped again in an area between Vali Asr and Fatemi squares and started their protest move. So far, about six protesters have been injured as a result of suppressive forces attacks today.
