NCRI – The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns the death sentence against Tariq Aziz, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq. This constitutes a flagrant violation of the most basic legal standards internationally recognized.
The death penalty for a 74-year-old politician, after seven and a half years in prison and in poor health, was pronounced at the request of the religious fascism ruling Iran and Maliki’s gang.
They are trying in vain to divert the attentions from the appalling crimes they had committed against the Iraqi people; the kind of crimes that in recent days have outraged the Iraqi public and the human conscience in the twenty-first century. It is no coincidence that the verdict was welcomed by the mullahs’ regime and caused a wave of joy among its authorities.
The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations, the United States and the United Nations, given their obligations vis-à-vis Iraq, to intervene urgently to prevent the execution of Mr. Tariq Aziz and the continuing brutal and systematic human rights violations in Iraq.
