Executed on charges of punishing a major of the repressive State Security Force (SSF) during the January uprising
At noon today, Wednesday, June 3, the regime’s judiciary announced the criminal execution of 42-year-old Fathollah Avari, who was arrested during the January uprising in Malard (southwest of Tehran). The regime’s judiciary news agency kept the date and location of the execution secret, but reports indicate that the execution took place on Tuesday, June 2, in Hamedan Prison.
The judiciary’s news agency and the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence news agency announced Fathollah Avari’s charge as punishing a major of the repressive SSF named Mohammad Javad Bakhshian during the January uprising in Hamedan (Mizan and Mehr news agencies, June 3, 2026). The SSF major had played an active role in suppressing the uprising in Hamedan and was killed during a confrontation with protesters.
The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns this brutal execution and calls for immediate and effective action by the United Nations and international human rights organizations to halt executions in Iran.
