- Maryam Rajavi: These executions will not save the crisis-ridden regime but will double the resolve of the youth in their struggle
- Call on the UN Security Council and the EU to condemn and halt executions in Iran
On Monday morning, June 1, 2026, the henchmen of the mullahs’ regime hanged two brave protesters, Mehrdad Mohammadinia and Ashkan Maleki, whom they labeled as leaders of the recent January uprising, in another anti-human crime. This criminal sentence was issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by the notorious judge Abolqasem Salavati.
The regime’s judiciary cited the charges against these rebellious youths as participation in operational actions against national security with the intent to confront the system, setting fire to the Basij center at the Jafari Mosque in Kuy-e Nasr (Gisha) in Tehran, setting fire to the so-called seminary under the deceptive name of ‘Imam Hadi’, destroying public property, clashing with security and State Security Force (SSF) agents, setting fire to Basij motorcycles, and blocking streets.
The Jafari Mosque and the Basij base located there constitute one of the key suppression centers in western Tehran. According to the state-run Hamshahri daily, it was under the control of Ebrahim Raisi, the henchman of the 1988 massacre, for 20 years. The criminal mullah Ahmad Alamolhoda sent Raisi ‘to be the congregational prayer leader of the Gisha Jafari Mosque’ in 1996 (Hamshahri daily, April 21, 2025).
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: ‘The execution of honorable youth who took to the streets for the freedom of their people and homeland will not only fail to save this crisis-ridden regime but will also double the resolve of rebellious youths in fighting this illegitimate regime. The day will come in a free Iran when the leaders of this regime and those responsible for 47 years of executions and massacres will face justice.’
Mrs. Rajavi once again called on the United Nations Security Council, the European Union, and its member states to strongly condemn the criminal executions in Iran and take effective action to stop the execution of political prisoners and protesters. She emphasized that the Iranian regime views silence in the face of daily executions as a green light to continue its crimes and slaughter.
