The case of religious fascism’s crimes must be referred to the UN Security Council, and Khamenei and other leaders of the regime must be brought to justice.

Iranian regime authorities hanged a prisoner named Naqi Damghani in public in Kordkuy (Golestan province) on Thursday, August 21, in an act of utmost cruelty. This came when just two days earlier, on Tuesday, August 19, another prisoner named Sajad Molaei Hakani was publicly hanged in Larestan (Fars province). His wife, Mahsa Akbari, was also executed the following day.

On Wednesday, August 20, thirteen prisoners were executed: Safarali Keyfari in Kerman; Karam Jaberi in Qazvin; Amir Mohammad Faroughi, 26, in Qorveh; Mokhtar Fazeli, 32, in Ahvaz; Hassan Mokhtari and Farshad Hamgan in Rasht; Mahsa Akbari, 35 (wife of Sajad Molaei), in Shiraz; Morteza Sayevand, 35; Reza Abbasi, 40; Hossein Karimi, 35; and Taleb Rikani in Isfahan; as well as Yashar Lehji and Naqi Shahi, 37, in Tabriz.

On Tuesday, August 19, twelve prisoners were sent to the gallows: Behzad Zeinali in Arak; Majid Pour Es-haqi in Bandar Abbas; and Mostafa Arzhangi, 28, in Ardabil. The names of nine other prisoners executed that day were published in the previous statement.

The ruling religious fascism in Iran, through such escalating brutality, desperately seeks to prevent an uprising and its overthrow. Silence and inaction in the face of this medieval savagery trample upon the recognized values and principles of human rights and democracy for which contemporary humanity has sacrificed millions of lives. The inhumane clerical regime must be rejected by the international community, its dossier of crimes referred to the UN Security Council, and regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei and other officials must be brought to justice.
