Prisoners’ Fingers Amputated in Evin Prison
Terrified of the widespread protests and creating an atmosphere of terror, the clerical regime continues severe repression, torture, and execution.
To this end, it hanged two prisoners, Behnam Khanjani and Farhad Ramezanian, in Rasht Central Prison on Thursday, June 1, 2022. Farhad Ramezanian had been imprisoned for seven years. Allah-Nazar Esmail-Zehi was executed in Damghan Prison on May 31. The day before, a prisoner in Saveh Prison and on May 29, a 27-year-old in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad and a 25-year-old in Karaj Central Prison were also hanged. On May 28, Hamidollah Sahraei and Nader Gargij were hanged in Chahbahar and Zabol Prisons. Thus, the number of recorded executions in Iran since the Persian New Year (beginning March 21, 2022) has reached at least 87.
In another criminal act, the clerical regime chopped off four fingers of a prisoner in Evin Prison on May 31. Recently, a device called a guillotine was installed in one of the medical rooms of Evin Prison to amputate prisoners’ hands.
Moreover, the clerical regime continues to murder prisoners by depriving them of medical treatment. Javad Amirkhani and Gol Agha Naroui died in Gohardasht and Birjand prisons, on May 30 and May 27, respectively, due to the lack of medical treatment.
In six statements issued in May, the Security and Counterterrorism Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) exposed a large quantity of the Prisons Organization’s classified documents, showing the deteriorating situation of the regime’s torture chambers and prisons.
The Iranian Resistance urges the United Nations and all human rights organizations, the European Union and its member states to condemn these barbaric executions and the regime’s brutal treatment of prisoners and take urgent action to save the lives of thousands of death row inmates.
