Iran: Political Prisoner Isa Chari Sentenced to Death on Charges of PMOI Membership
- Sudden Transfer from Khorin Varamin Prison to Solitary Confinement in Ghezel Hesar
- Call for Immediate, Effective Action to Save the Life of Isa Chari, an Oppressed Worker and Father of Two Young Children
The clerical regime’s judiciary has sentenced political prisoner Isa Chari, a 37-year-old laborer, to death on charges of membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and “committing anti-security measures.” This criminal sentence was issued by Judge Mohammad Mehdi Shahmirzadi in Branch 23 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court.
Isa Chari, a father of two young children and of Baluch origin, was a resident of Aq Qala (Golestan Province) and worked as a laborer on a poultry farm in Varamin to earn a living.
He was arrested in Varamin on December 7, 2025, and is currently held in solitary confinement in Ward 35 of Ghezel Hesar Prison.
On December 23, 2025, the Mehr News Agency, affiliated with the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence, reported without mentioning his name or organizational affiliation:
“The Qarchak Prosecutor’s Office in Tehran Province announced that an individual accused of committing anti-security measures and affiliated with expatriate movements and groups has been arrested through the efforts of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence forces. The official statement of the Qarchak Prosecutor’s Office states: Through the efforts and intelligence oversight of the anonymous soldiers… in the intelligence department of the county’s IRGC, one of the insecurity-causing elements affiliated with expatriate currents and groups, who was carrying out anti-security measures in the county, was identified and arrested. The Qarchak Prosecutor’s Office emphasized: The security of the country is the red line of the judiciary.”
Over the past seven months, no other news has been published about this political prisoner. Even the regime’s own customary judicial and legal procedures have not been followed, and his family had no information about him until his transfer to Ghezel Hesar.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN Special Rapporteur and international human rights bodies to take immediate and effective action to save the life of the oppressed laborer Isa Chari and demands a visit by an international fact-finding mission to investigate his condition and place of detention.
