NCRI logoThe 36th day of the nationwide uprising was marked by a massive demonstration by the people of Zahedan, on Friday, October 21.

Subsequently, Tehran and various cities were scenes of nightly hit-and-run clashes between the suppressive forces and young protesters who were chanting, “Death to the dictator.”

People in Amirabad, Sattar Khan, Saadat Abad, Shahran, and several other districts in Tehran held night demonstrations chanting, “Death to the dictator,” “Khamenei is a murderer, his rule is illegitimate,” and “This year is a year of sacrifice. Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown.”.

Night demonstrations were held in Sanandaj, Tabriz, Shushtar, Isfahan, Urmia, Khoi, Getchin, Hormozgan, and elsewhere. The rebellious youth in some cities set up roadblocks by lighting fires to take control of the streets. Amin junction in Tabriz, northwest Iran, was the scene of the hit-and-run with the security forces. The rebellious youth in Sanandaj, western Iran, set fire to the car of a criminal judge. People in different districts of Isfahan, including in Chaharbagh, Khaneh Isfahan, and Rahnan, held night demonstrations chanting, “This year is a year of sacrifice. Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown” and “Guns, cannons, and tanks are no longer effective, Mullah’s must be killed.” In some districts of Isfahan, people chanted “Death to the dictator” from the windows of their houses. In Ardabil, the rebellious youth punished a regime-affiliated mullah.

On Thursday night, in Lali, a city in Khuzestan province, people clashed with the suppressive forces and injured some of them.

On October 21, Entekhab, a state-run website, carried comments by Ahmad Taheri, the commander of the State Security Forces of Sistan and Baluchistan province, about the Friday uprising in Zahedan. “With the timely action of the police, about 57 rioters were arrested, and all their leaders and instigators were also identified, and the operation to arrest them continues…. all those who destroy the property will be identified and arrested,” he said.

Regarding the arrested protesters, on Friday, mullah Mohammad Nabi Mousavi Fard, the Friday prayer leader of Arak, said, “95% of these people were single, 80% of these people had diplomas, and 20% were post-diploma. Sixty percent of these people are 15 to 20 years old, 20% are 20 to 30 years old, and 20% are over 30 years old.”

Ahmad Khatami, the Friday prayer leader of Tehran, said, “Those who were fooled, deceived… should be released by giving a written commitment on the condition that they will not return to riots again. Those who are the leaders of the riots should not be shown any mercy, they should suffer. This calls for capital punishment. The judiciary should deal with them so that the others would not dare to riot.”
