Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: This vast and defiant crowd shows the resolve of a fed-up nation seeking to achieve freedom, justice, and popular sovereignty.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, thousands of contract workers from the South Pars Gas Complex held a rally in Asaluyeh’s Soleimani Square as part of their eighteenth consecutive week of protests, marking one of the largest labor demonstrations in the country. Despite repressive forces blocking their routes, they marched from the square toward the regime’s governorate.

The protesting workers chanted slogans such as, “Cannon, tank, firecracker – the contractor must be eliminated!”, “We want our rightful dues and will stand until the last day!”, “The fruit of our labor, our share is lost,” and “Enough with empty promises, our tables are empty.” They demanded an end to their systematic exploitation and called for the payment of their overdue wages. A large number of the workers’ families joined them in this protest.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, saluted the South Pars workers who took to the streets to demand their basic rights. She said this vast and defiant crowd shows the resolve of a nation that is fed up with dictatorship, discrimination, poverty, and inflation, and is seeking to achieve freedom, justice, and popular sovereignty.

Simultaneously, in Kermanshah, a group of retirees from the education, social security, medical sciences, and telecommunications sectors protested in front of the state pension fund building over their dire living conditions.

On Monday, December 8, retired telecommunications workers held coordinated rallies in the cities of Tehran, Sanandaj, Bijar, Tabriz, Dezful, Fars, Kermanshah, Marivan, Zanjan, Mashhad, and Khuzestan. Additionally, Makran Steel workers in Chabahar protested over three months of unpaid wages, healthcare workers in Kermanshah demonstrated against job instability, and a group of citizens in Tehran protested the exorbitant price of medicine.
