Protests in Kazerun

Iran Uprising-No. 155

Protesters chanted: “Our enemy is right here, they falsely claim it is the U.S.”; “Beware of the day we will be armed”

NCRI – Residents of the city of Kazerun in southwestern Iran returned to the streets on Wednesday, May 16, to continue their protest against plans to change the city’s boundaries.

Protesters rallied toward the city’s governorate office but repressive State Security Forces blocked their path to the office.

The protesters chanted: “Our enemy is right here, they falsely claim it is the U.S.”; “Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, we are all together”; “Beware of the day we will be armed”; “Fervent Kazerunis, get united; we are ready to defend Kazerun.”

Agents of the Iranian Regime’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) arrested at least 30 protesters. Members of families of those arrested gathered outside of the MOIS office in the city demanding the release of their relatives.

Meanwhile, marketers and shopkeepers in the city of Kazerun went on strike and refused to open their shops on Wednesday. As a result, the city’s market has been shut down.

The Iranian Resistance salutes the protesting residents of Kazerun, and calls for support for their brave uprising.

The Iranian Resistance calls on international human rights organizations to take immediate measures to immediately secure the release the arrested protesters in Kazerun.
