NCRI – Gatherings and protests erupted Thursday afternoon in dozens of spots across Tehran, the Social Headquarters of the PMOI reported. Thousands of young people took part at some of these locations. In most spots, attacks on protestors by suppressive forces led to clashes.

Thousands participated in protests at Enghelab Square, 16-Azar Street, and Kargar Street, and widespread clashes ensued. People at Vali Asr Junction chanted “Death to the dictator”, “God is Great”, and “Shah Supreme leader, your death is coming”.

Large numbers of protestors have been injured or arrested. At 19.30 local time, 16 people were arrested near Enghelab Square. Many people have been badly injured by suppressive forces using batons and tear gas.

People resisted barbaric attacks by the Revolutionary Guards and chanted ‘death to Khamenei,’ ‘death to the dictator’ and ‘do not be afraid, we are all together.’ In some parts the suppressive forces tried to disperse the crowd by firing into the air.

In order to prevent people from joining the demonstration, the suppressive forces shut down metro stations in some parts of Tehran.
