On Friday, August 22, 2025, the people of Shiraz protested for the second consecutive night against recurrent power outages, gathering in front of the Governorate and at Gaaz Square in the city. Repressive State Security Force (SSF), in fear of the expansion of these protests and aiming to disperse the crowd, assaulted the people using tear gas, arrested a number of individuals, and forcibly confiscated the cell phones of the protesters. The protesters resisted and confronted the attacking forces with chants of “Dishonorable, Dishonorable.”

The Shiraz protests against power outages are part of a growing wave of public demonstrations that have recently spread from Shiraz and Kazerun to Tehran, Karaj, Eslamshahr, Saveh, and Zahedan.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, saluted the people of Shiraz and Kazerun and emphasized: “As long as this criminal and plundering regime is in power, neither water nor electricity nor other necessities of the people will be set right. Freedom is the key to solving all of Iran’s problems. The people of Iran will not rest until they are rid of the rule of execution, plunder, and massacre and achieve freedom.”
