Iran Protest-No. 77
Interrupting government spokesman’s speech at Khajeh Nasir University with slogans, “Murderer, get lost,” “Death to the Supreme Leader after many long years of crimes”
Today, Monday, October 24, on the 39th day of the nationwide uprising, Tehran and various cities of the country were the scenes of the university students’ uprising. The Khajeh Nasir University students interrupted the speech of government spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahormi with anti-regime slogans. Jahromi was at the university for a question-and-answer period. Students chanted, “Murderer, get lost,” “Shame on our disgraced leader,” and “This year is a year of sacrifice. Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown,” “We don’t want a corrupt system, we don’t want a murderous guest,” “Spokesman, get lost,” “Basiji, it is the end of you,” “So many years of crimes! Death to the mullahs’ regime!” “Shout, students, shout your right,” “This is the last message, the regime itself is the target,” and “Our enemy is right here; they lie saying it’s America.”
In reaction to the students’ slogans, Bahadori tried to divert the main demand of the people and students, namely the regime’s overthrow by repeating some slogans. Still, in the face of the students’ slogans, he was forced to end his ridiculous show. Several Basijis came to the stage to keep the absurd show by chanting “Death to the hypocrites (MEK),” but the students shouted them down.
Students in other universities of Tehran, and other cities, including Sharif Technology, Allamah Economics, Science and Industry, Al-Zahra, Azad Gharb, Management, Foreign Language and Literature of Tehran University, Kharazmi, Amir Kabir, Medical Sciences of Tehran Azad University, Ferdowsi University and Sports Sciences of Mashhad, Isfahan University of Technology, Mazandaran Architecture, Dezful, Azad Flowerjan, Azad Shahr Kurd and Chamran University of Ahvaz staged sit-ins, and protests chanting, “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei),” “Rise and destroy the enemy’s palace,” “Death to the dictator,” “Mullahs must get lost.”
The Board of Governors of Sharif University of Technology banned dozens of protesting students who confronted the Basij agents in the university and played a “key role in creating unrest” from entering the university. The measure faced protests from other students.
The students at Hamedan University of Technology protested the martyrdom of one of the university’s students during the uprising, chanting, “You, who are sitting, you are the next Mahsa.”
Teachers in Sanandaj, Saqqez, Marivan, and Diwandreh staged sit-in protests in solidarity with the nationwide uprising.
Doctors in Shiraz protested and chanted, “Death to the dictator.” The suppressive forces fired tear gas at them.
In Tehran, brave women at the city theater metro station protested, chanting, “Death to Khamenei.” In the Baghfeiz district, male students protested, chanting, “Freedom, freedom.” In Zahedan, some teachers boycotted the classes in solidarity with the nationwide uprising. In Arak, people, and relatives of one of the martyrs of the uprising named Sina Malayeri, whom suppressive agents martyred on October 22 in Arak, chanted the slogan “Allah Akbar, innocent Iran” and “This flower is a gift to the motherland.”
