Coinciding with the Mehregan festivities and the start of the school year in Iranian cities, the Resistance Units launched dozens of anti-repression campaigns under the central slogan “Death to the oppressor, whether shah or leader” in Tehran and 12 other cities: Shahr-e Qods, Karaj, Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Yazd, Babol, Babolsar, Tabriz, Shiraz, Rasht, and Sari. These brave campaigns took place under heavy security conditions and beneath numerous surveillance cameras. Some of the common chants in these campaigns included: “Neither monarchy nor [supreme] leadership — democracy and equality,” “Death to Khamenei, hail to Rajavi,” “Monarchy and mullahs, a hundred years of crimes,” “No crown, no turban — your rule is finished, mullah.”
Among these actions, in Tehran, Karaj, and Ahvaz there were widespread leaflet distributions and wall-writings bearing slogans such as “Death to the oppressor, be it the shah or the supreme leader” and “Neither shah nor mullahs.” In Kermanshah there were several successive photo-calls with printed leaflets in front of the Technical University and public places. In Rasht and Sari leaflets with the slogan “We want neither shah nor mullah — damn the dictators” were affixed to cars. In Babol, Babolsar, Sanandaj, Tabriz, Yazd, and Shiraz leaflets and banners with anti-dictatorship messages and in support of the Iranian Resistance were also posted.
