Mrs. Rajavi, saluting the uprising of the students, declared: the regime bears full responsibility, as its only goal is to preserve itself through brutal repression

Following the murder of Amir Mohammad Khaleqi, a 19-year-old student at the University of Tehran, near the university dormitory on Friday, February 14, 2025, students from the University of Tehran’s dormitory staged a protest against this heinous crime. A number of students gathered at the main gate and attempted to join their fellow protesters at the dormitory’s main entrance, but security forces prevented them from entering. In response, the students confronted the security agents, chanting “Dishonorable, dishonorable!”

Fearing the expansion of student protests, the regime deployed a large number of Special Unit forces and plainclothes agents around both the male and female dormitories.

On Saturday, February 15, 2025, for the second consecutive day, students held demonstrations at the University of Tehran, chanting: “University security is a tool of the IRGC, you are our murderers!”, “A student may die, but will never accept humiliation!”, “Incompetent officials must resign, resign!”, “The blood that has been spilled can never be erased!”

Amid the students’ protests and the regime’s growing fear of escalating demonstrations, the director of the University of Tehran dormitory resigned. In an attempt to prevent the protests from spilling into the streets, Hossein Sarraf, the regime’s Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, warned: “University issues must not extend beyond campus. Those who enter unlawfully will face severe consequences, and there will be no leniency in this matter.”  (Regime’s ISNA News Agency, February 15, 2025)

Tensions persist at the University of Tehran and other universities across the country.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), saluted the students of the University of Tehran who rose in protest against the murder of the innocent student Amir Mohammad Khaleqi. She declared that the students fully understand that the regime bears responsibility, as it prioritizes neither the security nor the well-being of the people, and its sole aim is to preserve its rule through extreme repression. “The students have risen to proclaim that silence is no longer an option. Indeed, the university is the stronghold of freedom, and it must fulfill its historic role everywhere. I call on my fellow compatriots to support the students in their struggle.”
