At dawn on February 8, 1982, Ashraf Rajavi, the symbol of PMOI women, and Mousa Khiabani, a high-ranking PMOI leader, along with a group of PMOI cadres, were martyred. They fell after an unequal and epic battle following a brutal onslaught by hordes of IRGC Guards and Khomeini’s executioners on their quarters in Zaferanieh, Tehran.
The daring activities of the Resistance Units, which began on the morning of Sunday, February 8, 2026, under severe security conditions and surveillance, were a response to the clerical regime’s desperate attempts to distort history and extinguish the flames of freedom. They once again demonstrated the determination of Iran’s youth to establish a democratic republic.
During these nationwide activities, symbolic images of Mousa Khiabani and Ashraf Rajavi were widely displayed in public thoroughfares and busy districts. By projecting images on city walls and installing and distributing excerpts from the speeches of Iranian Resistance Leader Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, regarding the democratic alternative, the rejection of any form of dictatorship, and the bright prospect of freedom, the Resistance Units conveyed the message of resistance to the people. They emphasized their firm resolve to continue this path until the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime.
In these activities, slogans and themes such as “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei),” “No to Monarchy or Theocracy, Yes to Democracy and Equality,” “Hail to Rajavi,” “The mullahs must go, sovereignty belongs to the people of Iran,” and “We swear by the blood of the fallen we will stand to the end” were inscribed on city walls and doors, echoing the cry for freedom across Iran.
