The released funds will serve Khamenei and IRGC and won’t be used to resolve Iranian people’s problems
The adoption of the JCPOA by the Iranian regime and its hasty implementation by transgressing Khamenei’s declared redlines and guidelines, before all else, indicate the explosive state of the Iranian society, especially on the verge of the elections for the parliament and the Assembly of Experts, the eroding effect of the sanctions, and apprehension for the imposition of further sanctions by the U.S. Congress.
As the Iranian Resistance had declared last summer, six months after the adoption of JCPOA by the regime, the struggle for power at the top of the regime on the verge of elections has traversed the entire regime and led to the waning of the Supreme Leader’s power and has rendered the regime in its entirety more feeble and vulnerable. In particular, the regime’s consecutive defeats in Syria has deepened its internal crisis. It is so that concurrent with the implementation of JCPOA, the clerical regime has ramped up its criminal executions and just in the first two weeks of the New Year, it has carried out 53 execution of prisoners to intensify the climate of terror and fear.
Lifting of some sanctions and giving Iranian people’s assets to the illegitimate and usurper regime ruling Iran shall not at all improve the economic condition of the Iranian people and would rather serve the regime’s policies of oppression, export of fundamentalism and terrorism, and warmongering, particularly the massacre of the Syrian people. As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, declared on July 14, 2015, for these assets not to flow into Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon and not to further fill the pockets of the Revolutionary Guards, it should be spent under the strict control of the United Nations on Iranian people’s imperative needs, especially the meager, unpaid wages of laborers, teachers and nurses and to provide food and medicine to the population.
The major part of Iran’s economy (more than 50% of its GDP) is controlled by 14 large entities, all of which are affiliated with the military and security apparatus and controlled by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Much of the released funds will end up in the coffers of these 14 economic entities. A good portion of IRGC expenditures and the monthly financial assistance to the Syrian dictator is paid up by the profits of these institutions. The bulk of the released funds will flow to these economic hubs and will thus serve Khamenei and the IRGC.
Yet, given the regime’s economic infrastructure, which is riddled with corruption and embezzlement, and in light of its countless crises, these funds will not strategically alleviate any of the regime’s problems even on the economic front. Rather, they will only amplify the outrage and loath of the Iranian people against the clerical regime and all of its gangs and factions that have only brought poverty and unemployment to the Iranian people.
The problem of the Iranian people with the ruling religious fascism is not just limited to the nuclear issue but prior to that is the brutal violation of human rights and the suppression of all liberties and the thorough repression imposed by this regime, especially against women, the youth, and the followers of other religions and faiths, as well as various ethnicities within Iranian society. Any turning of a blind eye to the crimes of this regime inside Iran or its export of terrorism and fundamentalism under the pretext of the nuclear accord would exacerbate the threat to regional and global peace and security and would even embolden this regime in the pursuit of its nuclear projects and the violation of this very nuclear accord.
