Iran-UN: Rajavi welcomes UN Security Council statement on mullahs

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian ResistanceShe called for sanctions against Tehran for rights abuses, export of terrorism and fundamentalism, and pursuit of nuclear weapons

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, welcomed the United Nations Security Council statement on Friday, condemning the menacing and demagogic remarks of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Mrs. Rajavi said as long as the anti-human clerical regime rules in Iran, it will not cease its export of terrorism and fundamentalism, or its enmity to peace and tranquility.
Mrs. Rajavi said that the time had come for the international community to go beyond words in facing up to a regime that brutally suppresses its own people, threatens regional and global peace and tranquility, seeks to establish a puppet regime in Iraq, and pursues nuclear weapons in defiance of the international community. She urged the international community to support the adoption of comprehensive UN Security Council sanctions against the clerical regime for its violations of human rights, export of terrorism and fundamentalism, and pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Following the remarks of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on December 8, Mrs. Rajavi had stressed that the Tehran regime was not worthy of membership in the international community and had called for the regime’s expulsion from the Organization of Islamic Conference and the United Nations.
