If there had not been appeasement over the past decade and resolutions had not been halted, there would have been no need for war.

On Friday, a vote will be held in the United Nations Security Council to activate international sanctions resolutions against the Iranian regime. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said on this matter: We repeat that this step is belated but extremely urgent and necessary. Anything less than this is granting the regime the opportunity to carry out further executions and massacres in order to more brutally suppress the Iranian people. The world knows that if it were not for 133 exposés by the Iranian Resistance over the past 34 years — and especially for the revelation of the secret nuclear facilities in Natanz and Arak in August 2002 — the theocratic dictatorship ruling Iran would by now have armed itself with an atomic bomb and presented the world with a fait accompli. Now, by rejecting the proposals of the European Troika, it has been proven that the mullahs’ regime has not renounced its nuclear project and that Europe has no option but the “snapback.” Truly, if there had not been appeasement a decade ago and if the resolutions had not been suspended, there would have been no need for war.

On 14 July 2015, following the JCPOA (nuclear deal), Mrs. Rajavi stated: “If the P5+1 countries had acted firmly, the Iranian regime would have had no choice but complete retreat and permanent abandonment of its nuclear weapons project, specifically, giving up all enrichment and shutting down its bomb-making projects entirely… Even now, the world must firmly insist on the regime’s non-interference and removal from the entire region, and this necessity must be enshrined as a fundamental principle in any agreement.”

Mrs. Rajavi also emphasized: “The cash flowing into the regime must be placed under strict UN control and used to meet the urgent needs of the Iranian people, especially the meager and unpaid wages of workers, teachers, and nurses, and for food and medicine for the masses.”
