NCRI – The Iranian Resistance denounces a series of terrorist operations on Wednesday, August 25, in Baghdad, Basra, kut, Karbala and several other cities in Iraq that left at least 50 dead and hundreds wounded. Brutal killing of innocent and defenseless citizens in the month of Ramadan, which is a month of mercy and peace for Moslems, has provoked outrage among all Moslems particularly the people of Iraq.

The unbridled terrorism fulfills the sinister intents of the clerical regime to influence the political scene of Iraq and to prevent the formation of a government destined by the election in order to continue and expand its dominance on Iraq.

The religious fascism ruling Iran and its Iraqi agents plan to avert the formation of a nationalist and non-sectarian government contrary to what has been determined by the will of the Iraqi people and to avoid the clerical regime’s eviction from Iraq through intensifying insecurity in that country.

On December 8, 2009, based on reliable documents and information from inside the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the terrorist Quds Force, the Iranian Resistance revealed that al-Maliki government tries to cover up the Iranian regime's involvements in the bombings of Baghdad.

Iraqi leaders, political dignitaries and news media have repeatedly underscored the logistical backing for terrorist operations by elements inside the Iraqi security and military institutions and their commanders. It is widely known that these institutions are extensively influenced by the Iranian regime.

The Iranian Resistance expresses deep condolences to the relatives of the victims in today's bombings and hopes for quick recovery of the wounded. It also calls for international investigations on the criminal bombings in Iraq. Any impartial investigation would unveil the role of the religious fascism ruling Iran and its Iraqi agents in these crimes.
