NCRI – The Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle (Khebat) strongly condemned the Feb. 9 attack on Camp and urged all freedom-loving, humanitarian organizations to condemn the criminal attack. It also urges the United Nations to return the residents of Camp Liberty to ensure their protection and preserve the lives of Liberty residents.
Statement by the Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle (Khebat):
On the morning of Saturday February 9, 2013, in a barbaric and criminal joint operation by the mullahs’ regime and Nuri al-Maliki using missiles and mortars, members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) at camp Liberty, who have no shelters, were attacked and regrettably during this atrocious attack six PMOI members were killed and about 100 were wounded.; the martyred were Pouran Najafi, Yahya Nazari, Akbar Azizi, Mostafa Khosravi, Mehdi Abed and Hadi Shafiei.
Considering that Liberty is close to Baghdad airport and UNAMI’s office and that the area is a protected area, it is quite clear that this atrocious crime was planned and carried out by al-Maliki and the Iranian regime.
Since the outset, PMOI had warned about the mullah’ regime’s sinister intentions and the dangers of relocation to Liberty—a place without protective facilities—and had repeatedly asked for the return of residents to Ashraf. However, the United Nations did not pay attention to the dangers facing the residents and did not accept their request to return to Ashraf, therefore, the responsibility for the lives of these political refugees at Liberty lies with the United Nations and the Government of Iraq.
The Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle (Khabat) strongly condemns this anti-human act by the Iranian regime and Nuri al-Maliki, and urges all freedom-loving, humanitarian organizations to condemn this criminal attack. It also urges the United Nations to return the residents of Camp Liberty who are being treated like prisoners, to Ashraf. Concurrently, it should take immediate action to ensure the security and preserve the lives of Liberty residents.
