A man hanged in public in southern Iran

A man hanged in public in southern Iran NCRI – A man identified as Iraj D. was hanged in public yesterday in the city of Shooshtar in the oil rich province of Khuzistan, southern Iran.

The man was charged with murder but no detail of his trial was released.

Khuzistan province was the scene of violent unrests last summer which was brutally suppressed by the clerical regime’s security forces leaving over 60 dead and hundreds more wounded or arrested.

Two more public hangings took place last week in this province which drew widespread protests in Ahwaz, the provincial capital of Khuzistan. Five Arab human rights organizations also condemned public hangings as a method to impose a reign of terror in the country particularly in Khuzistan.
