Iran: Deterioration of political prisoner’s health on hunger strike

Arzhang-Davoudi

NCRI – Karaj, Gohardasht Prison – The health condition of political prisoner Arzhang Davoudi who is on his forty-eighth day of hunger strike, has seriously deteriorated. This political prisoner is suffering from kidney and heart disease and diabetes.

In a letter on Wednesday August 31, a group of political prisoners in Gohardasht prison expressed concern about Arzhang Davoudi’s health and wrote: “We, a group of political prisoners in Gohardasht, warn about serious health condition of Arjang Davoudi who has been on hunger strike for almost 46 days.

“On Tuesday August 30, while suffering from severe kidney problems, he went into coma and the prison clinic officials rushed to dispatch him to Tehran’s “one thousand beds” hospital. But the next morning returned him to the prison ward without any serious action for his treatment.

“We political prisoners in Gohardasht support his legitimate demands and call on all international organizations defending the rights of prisoners for urgent action to address the situation of this resistant prisoner.”

Arzhang Davoudi in a letter on Monday August 29 called on international community and all freedom-loving people to bring his cries for justice from within the clerical regime’s medieval prisons to the world’s attention.
The following is excerpts of his letter:
“Freedom-loving people, International Community, Combatants, Mojahed fighters and Iranian individuals and organizations

Today, Monday 29 August 2016, I am on my 44th day of medicine and hunger strike in Rajaii-Shahr (Gohardasht) prison, but on the direct order of the prison’s head, IRGC Colonel Mohammad Mardani, and also Colonel Mohammad Ebrahim Hosseini-Sharif (nicknamed (Najmi), the officer in charge of the IRGC and Intelligence joint ward, I have been deprived of any medical treatment.
Hereby, I call on all freedom-loving people of the world, the international community and all justice-seeking Iranians around the world, especially my fellow Mojahed and combatant citizens, to act more diligently and as before deliver my righteous and justice-seeking cries from within the medieval prisons of Khamenei’s regime and his accomplices through the individual or mass media.

Expressing respect towards all those who value humanity and work for human rights and stand against the system of top to toe oppression, injustice and corruption… I wish health and triumph for all of those who think about the third revolution, the democratic revolution of Iran, and hail to all of those who are fighting for the freedom and emancipation of Iran and Iranians.”
