Matthew Offord MP: We should re-impose sanctions on Iran regime until they stop supporting terrorism

NCRI – Dr. Matthew Offord, a British lawmaker has called for sanctions on Iran’s regime if they do not stop supporting terrorism.

Dr. Offord, the Conservative MP for Hendon, said that he is very concerned about the Iranian nuclear capability program.

He said: “This is something that I spoke out against when the deal was first concluded. I said that I believe that Iran would continue for a nuclear weapon, I could see that through not only the increasing centrifuging of the nuclear capability but also the continued testing of ballistic missiles. This showed to me that the deal was not a real priority in the minds of President Rouhani and indeed the ruling mullahs. I believe they would continue to seek a nuclear solution to their problem within the area and we must stop them from doing so. “

He spoke of the horrors inflicted upon the refugees in Camp Liberty in Iraq, including rocket attacks and having aid blockaded by the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Members of the main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK) live at that camp. He said that the United Nations should be protecting the people there until they can be transferred to safe countries and that Rouhani should withdraw his support of the IRGC.

He said: “Most recently, President Rouhani, who we were told was a moderate, has actually applauded the actions of Qassem Soleimani, the leader of the IRGC within the region. This is not acceptable. We know that they are interfering in the affairs of other governments and we know that they are continuing to fund terrorism in the region. And as such, this should not be accepted and that’s why we should re-impose sanctions upon Iran.”

He wants to see a change in the region, which is why he will be attending the Free Iran rally in Paris on July 9. He notes that the only viable alternative to the theocracy is the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), led by Maryam Rajavi.

He said: “I urge everyone to attend and let your voice be heard. We can show the mullahs, we can show the regime, and we can show President Rouhani, there is an alternative to his regime and change will come.”
