On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign entered its ninety-first week, with coordinated actions in 52 prisons across Iran. In Unit 2 of Ghezel Hesar Prison, participating inmates staged a hunger strike, demanding an end to the regime’s execution machine. The campaign’s statement declared: “At the same time as the World Day Against the Death Penalty, prisoners allied to the campaign at Ghezel Hesar raised slogans denouncing execution, expressing disgust at these cruel and inhuman sentences.”
The statement also drew attention to the forced transfer of female political prisoners from Qarchak to Evin Prison, noting that many now suffer lack of heating and minimal amenities in dire conditions. While some women escaped the worst of Qarchak, the statement said, “hundreds remain captive in this torture house,” including those condemned to death. The campaign called for the closure of Qarchak and for officials to be tried for gross human rights violations.
In its 90th week, #NoDeathPenaltyTuesdays campaign was held in 52 prisons across Iran, coinciding with #WorldDayAgainstTheDeathPenalty
Prisoners reaffirmed: “No to execution for anyone!”

In the text, the activists also condemned the recent confirmation of the death sentence for political prisoner Ehsan Faridi, emphasizing its procedural flaws and labeling it as part of a reign of terror aimed at youth and students. They further identified three other prisoners — Nasimeh Eslami-Zeh, her husband Arsalan Shikhi, and Amanj Karavanchi — as victims of arbitrary, ideological trials.
The campaign report claims that in just the first 20 days of Mehr (October), 162 inmates have already been executed, bringing the total to over 1,000 executions in the first more than six months of 2025. They called on all prisoners to oppose executions of their cellmates, on activists to intensify efforts, and on families of those on death row not to abandon their loved ones.
🔸September 2023, 25 executions were recorded.
🔸In 2024, the number tripled to 75.
🔸In 2025 it soared to 204.

This week’s list of participating prisons covers nearly every region: Evin (Women’s Ward), Ghezel-Hesar (Units 3 & 4), Central Karaj, Fardis, Tehran Grand, Qarchak, Varamin, Sheyban Ahvaz, Shiraz’s Adelabad, Yazd, Tabas, Tabriz, Urmia, Sanandaj, and dozens more — underscoring the campaign’s persistence and reach.
The report ends with a rallying cry: “The ‘Tuesdays No to Execution’ campaign still needs your support — so that this voice of justice and humanity rings ever louder in awakened consciences and the global community: ‘No to execution, for anyone!’”
