Assad’s overthrow would have a fatal impact on Iranian regime’s built “Shiite Crescent”

French newspaper Le Figaro on August 10 wrote: Assad’s fall will be a fatal blow to the “Shiite Crescent” that was built on Damascus – Tehran axis, and the Iraqi regime is one of its moons.

Le Figaro researched the Syrian uprising and consequences of Bashar Assad’s fall, on two separate articles in its recent publication, and also mentioned the Saudi’s position against Syrian dictator. Le Figaro wrote: “Current position of Saudi Arabia is based on the analysis that regime change in Damascus will transform all the equations and alliance in the region.”

Riyadh hopes that the alliance between the regime in Iran and Syria will fail. By relying of  Hizbullah of Lebanon and Palestinian Islamic organizations based in Damscus, the Iranian regime created Damascus-Tehran axis. Through this axis, the regime extended its influence to the shores of eastern Mediterranean . Overthrow of the Syrian regime would bring a fatal blow to the “Shiite Crescent.”
In Iranian regime’s view, this is a matter of regional win or lose, specially after Iraq has become a part of this axis,  and it necessistates the regime of Tehran to completely support Assad and his repressive forces.

In another article Le Figaro wrote: Until now, the Syrian regime blackmailed other regimes in the region and threatened them that Syria would be able to destabilize the entire region with the help of its Iranian ally.

Hisham Dawood, a researcher at the Center for Scientific Research in France, believes that regime change in Syria will end the alliance between Syria and Iranian regime.
