The MPs in Tehran have signed a letter backing Ali Khamenei’s decision to bar the candidates’ – just days after the Supreme Leader ordered his political cronies to back the move.
The MPs joint letter read: “This election is a major historical turning point.
“The Guardian Council acted wisely, righteously, and decisively in determining the competency of presidential election candidates, allowing those who are competent and removing those deviant elements to avoid a repeat of the the 2009 sedition.
“The historic decision of the Guardian Council will now surely guarantee the survival of the Islamic system.”
The decision of the Guardian Council on elimination of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani from presidential candidacy on the order of Ali Khamenei has caused a deep rift within the regime, and even within the Guardian Council,
Ali Khamenei has ordered his cronies to support the decision of the Guardian Council and to neutralize pressures from inside the regime for a State Order to re-instate Rafsanjani.
