Iran Regime’s Leader: Polarizing the Society Is Dangerous, Should Not Be Repeated

NCRI – Iranian Supreme Leader Mullah Ali Khamenei delivered remarks on Monday expressing concerns over the regime “becoming polarized” and “people divided by rifts,” describing such an outcome as dangerous and must not be repeated.

“Our national interest must match our national identity, not for our national identity being dependent on issues described as national interests… our national interests must not be imposed by foreigners,” he said.

“Officials should distance from foreign enemies and their foreign elements… During the 2009 incidents, there were people on the streets chanting against the revolution and religious beliefs, and we faced major difficulties as we did not distance ourselves from such elements,” Khamenei continued.

On the Iran nuclear deal “we could have not trusted the enemy, but in some cases and for some reasons, such as not providing any pretexts to the Americans, we backed down and of course there were no pretexts and we suffered,” he said.

“We trusted the officials who followed up this issue, as we do today, as we consider them our men and believers in religion. However, in this regard, since we believed the words of our counterparts, voids were left and the enemy is currently taking advantage of,” he added.

“It is obvious that the US is not fond of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and Quds Force, and they will be placing conditions, for example for the IRGC to not exist, the Bassij to not interfere, act like this and that in foreign affairs and such other remarks. However, in complete contrast to the enemy, all our officials must boost Iran’s symbols of strength, such as the armed forces, the IRGC and Bassij, and all other believers,” Khamenei emphasized.

“The honorable president in his speech said actions should be taken, yet he is the main individual, along with his team, to implement these measures,” he added.

On the threats posed by social media Iran for the regime Khamenei said, “An avalanche of immoral issues that are against our national interests, right and wrong context, right and wrong information, and even half-intelligence are provided to the society. This must be controlled.”
